This is a specialised type of acupuncture designed to help tighten facial muscles and stimulate good circulation in the skin and facial tissues.

 

This non-surgical treatment is reputed to reduce the signs of ageing by inserting very fine, sterile single-use disposable needles into the acupoints of the face and sometimes the body, followed by a relaxing and moisturising facial massage.

 

The aims of this treatment are to stimulate collagen production which may fill out fine lines and give firmness to the skin.

 

There is usually no pain and only a mild distending feeling at some of the insertion sites. In fact, the majority of clients report receiving treatment as a pleasant relaxing experience.

 

A 1996 report in The International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that of 300 cases treated with cosmetic acupuncture, 90% had noticeable effects after one course of treatment.
